History

In 1966 the company was founded in Pöchlarn by Braas & Co and Hofman & Maculan: BRAasMACulan –the brand name BRAMAC was born.  The first tiles, however, were not produced before one year after the foundation of the company in 1966:  the first Alpine roof tiles finally came off the production line on 14 February 1967 at 16:56 hours, laying the corner stone for a successful company history.

After Hofman & Maculan had left the company in 1969, Wienerberger acquired 50 % of the company shares. In 1973 a second plant was built and opened in Gaspoltshofen, Upper Austria. In 1984, Bramac started its expansion to Central and Eastern Europe with the first joint venture in Hungary.

In 1996, Lafarge Roofing took over the 50% share of Braas & Co. After the foundation of BRAMAC Albania and BRAMAC Macedonia, the Group comprised a total of 12 countries in 2008. In 2011 the BRAAS MONIER BUILDING GROUP acquired the 50 % share of Wienerberger AG and thus became the full owner of BRAMAC, holding 100%.
